We use Jetpack to track views per-article, to get a good idea of what types of coverage you (our audience) is interested in. This data is not used to sell our audience services or advertise to them, as we do not advertise in the first place. The analytics provided are via WordPress.com, and include views by location and date. We do not personally store or share any of the collected data.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. This metadata may be sent through an automated spam detection service.
