Now that Compton is stable and not being worked on as much now-a-days. Picom is a fork of Compton that is more up to date. I’m adding this for others that use Compton on a daily bases. Picom is sort of new and wont be out on on next LTS versions of linux. Though if you have current kernel versions, it should be in there in the package managers. Either that or the community repositories; AUR, PPA.. etc.

since it requires dri3, it doesn’t work with nvidia proprietary drivers though.
